Old-fashioned soda fountains can generally be found in old drugstores, preferably in small towns which are more apt to still have ‘atmosphere’.  Like the drive-in movies, the soda fountain is a relic from the past.  

Request pie alamode and a thick malt from your modern day soda jerk.  When visiting a true old-fashioned soda fountain, you won’t find a higher pie!

Your child will feel kingly sitting on the elevated stools covered in gaudy shades of thick-gauge plastic.  These are highly recommended over the booths.

Many of these establishments come equipped with beautiful carved mirrors, and antiques that have been anchored into the walls – generally encompassing advertisement signs from the past like Dr. Pepper, the 10-2-4 drink!

Antique Mall

Visit an antique store or mall with your child.  Antique stores are filled with treasures from our past.  Your child may especially enjoy the toy section.
