VII. FORCES OF NATURE & OUR SEASONAL THANKGIVINGS

The wind, the sea and the seasons are very powerful instruments of nature and wonder.  So much of our Good Earth has been created with these magical forces.  Often times, we need only to open our eyes to see a delicate, beautiful expression of nature created by time and the forces of nature.

Cave Dwellers

Kids and caves go hand in hand!  If this activity isn’t possible in your situation, find a book on caves.  Your local library is a great source.

Next, make a small cave using thick cardboard.  Cardboard is very pliable, so keep working with it until you have formed a domed shape.  Next, place your dome on top of a flat piece of cardboard that has been cut to the size of your dome.  Paint and decorate.

Or, perhaps paper meche would suit your artistic abilities?  Snip out a section of chicken wire and shape into a dome.  Next, dip strips of newspaper in a mixture of glue and water, or flour and water.  Start building the cave by placing the strips of paper onto the wire dome.  Your cave will be stronger if you allow each layer to dry before applying the next.  Paint and decorate.  Create stones and boulders, or a dinosaur to complete your spelunker adventure.
