More than ever, it is important for your child to have a basic idea of the globe.  These can be bought for a song at second-hand shops, so keep an eye out for a bargain.

Touch on major aspects of the globe: world nations, oceans, North Pole, and equator.  

Have your child draw one their favorite continents, or places, on the globe then label and color.

Plant a Tree

Of course, Arbor Day would be THE perfect day for planting.   Incorporate other learning activities into the event such as counting tree rings to determine the life of a tree.  (Each ring represents one year.)

It is interesting to note that tree rings are not evenly spaced.  A tree may have thrived one year, then lagged in growth the next.
