Romantic Bedroom or Bored
Room?
Everyone is a Romantic at heart. Which type
are you? Whether you’re contemporary or old-fashioned why not apply your
style and transform your bedroom from plain to romantic?
The Bedroom
The bedroom is a place of solace, of rest, of romance!
Envision soft, luxurious sheets, cozy blankets and duvet covers in rich
warm colors. Wash them in a lavender infusion to add a dynamic romantic
scent to your bed (recipe below).
Try combining different textures and
layer colors in patterns that will please the eye. Pile plump pillows
at the head of the bed to add a welcoming element to your ensemble. There
are so many shapes and sizes. Many specialty shops offer pillows with
romantic motifs such as satin hearts in pretty pastels, threaded with pearls.
A throw across the foot of the bed will add an entirely new dimension
to the room.
Dressing Out Those Windows
Windows are available in so many styles with latticed
panes, stained panes, frosted panes, and panes that are inset with intricate
designs. Your local home store has catalogues filled with samples you
can order. Windows have a dramatic impact on the overall character of
the room. There are so many different looks that can be pulled together
and if you don’t like the wide-open view, you’ll enjoy dressing them in rich
velvets, romantic lace, or puffy satin balloon valances.
The Walls Should Be Your Canvas
Walls should accentuate the contents of the room and
compliment both natural and artificial lighting. Mirrors, prints and paintings
all add character to the room. In addition, a wall of mirrors in a small
room will instantly increase the size – or seemingly so.
Romanticize your bedroom by adding that personal touch.
If you and your lover enjoy a specific hobby together, incorporate that
theme into your walls. If one of you can paint or draw pictures, frame
them.
Themes
You can carry over this effect throughout your home.
For example, if you both love the sea then make that your ‘home theme’.
Or, make several themes throughout your home such as a jungle theme for
your bedroom, a tropical theme for your den and so forth.
Plants vs Knickknacks
It’s hard to pass up those cute little knickknacks
at the village market. Most cost a song. However, before you buy
seek out something that you feel may be too expensive – but something that you
truly love. Odds are, over time you’ll spend MORE on those trinkets than
on the truly worthwhile object. Consider putting it on layaway.
Trinkets can not only add up in price, they tend to
collect a lot of dust – and that revolves into work. If this sounds familiar
and you are tired of swishing the duster about your home, consider investing
in a few pretty houseplants nestled in pretty containers. The greenery
will add life to a room like nothing else. And plants tend to set a positive
mood.
In Summary
Whatever you buy, and however you choose to decorate
your castle, have fun!
