Save Money On
Dining Out to Use for A Romantic Getaway
Tips to help you save money on fast food and restaurant dining.
Most of the expenses in a personal budget are predictable such as lodging, auto payments, insurance costs, even utility bills. However, when it comes to budgeting for food, the 'predictable' becomes very 'unpredictable'.
Those nickels and dimes really add up! By a bit of careful budgeting when dining out, you can save enough money for a romantic getaway.
Fastfood - Seek out the meal deals such as '2 can eat for $5.99'. On the flip side, don't be compelled into ordering giant meal deals if you aren't that hungry. Consider ordering just the burger, or just the hotdog, or just the nachos.
Order the small drink when dining inside the fastfood establishment. Most offer free refills and odds are that you won't be refilling that 64-ounce cup anyway.
Order plain water, or water with lemon to save on the cost of the beverage. Most beverages average about $2 each when tax is added. That $2 turns into $4 for a couple, and about $30 for the week, and $120 for the month. That's enough money for a nice hotel, gas to get there, and a nice meal for a mini-weekend getaway.
You can also turn your water with lemon into lemonade by using either sugar packets or the no calorie sweeteners.
Order and split a single entrée. Most restaurants provide bread, or chips and salsa as compliments to munch on while you wait on your meal to be prepared. If you think about it, you probably don't generally finish your entrée because you've filled up on these 'appetizers'. Be sure and let your hostess know that you plan to split the meal so it will be put on two plates. Or, get intimate by sharing your meal off the same plate. You can always order something else if you find you aren't full. Or, split a romantic dessert.
Check your local newspapers for discount coupons when dining out. Many fastfood establishments have discount sheets of coupons that you can use on your next visit. Another place to find savings is on your grocery receipt. Check the back of the receipt for great dining offers.
