Thanksgiving Tips for a Romantic
Holiday Season
About a week before Thanksgiving, avoid serving chicken
or turkey. Stick some spicy items in the family’s diet such as homemade
chili, hot dogs, and tacos. By the time Thanksgiving rolls around, they’ll
be ‘in the mood’ for bird.
When stuffing celery, let the cream cheese stand for
about half an hour before you begin filling the stalks. As the cream cheese
cools to room temperature, it will soften, making it much easier to spread.
When making dressing, avoid adding hot broth to your
crumbled cornbread mixture. It will create a ‘gummy’ dressing and if you’ve
chosen to include dried parsley in your dressing, it will give off a green hue.
Use stale or toasted bread when assembling dressing.

When creating appetizer trays, experiment with the
different flavored cream cheeses. For example, if you are stuffing celery
try using plain, pimento and jalepeno cream cheeses for variety. Butter
crackers can be topped with pineapple, strawberry, vegetable or blueberry cream
cheese.
Purchase pitted olives to save time and headaches!
Cook your giblets and cornbread the night before Thanksgiving.
You’ll not only save time, but the seasonings will explode through the
food.
When adding salt and pepper, play it safe and measure
with a spoon before adding to your dish.
Whenever possible, use fresh vegetables. For
example, fresh green peas will literally melt in one’s mouth; fresh beets have
a much better flavor than canned.
