Collecting the supplies for your potpourri creations can be just as much fun as making the potpourri masterpiece. You have so many options to use as your source.

Craft stores make excellent storehouses for potpourri 'fixins', as well as simple nature walks. Nature has provided us with a bounty of items that we can use for making potpourri. Pine cones, berries, tree bark, cedar chunks, fragrant flowers, pretty pods, aromatic leaves – the possibilities are endless!

There are also several online supply stores where you can obtain potpourri ingredients. To find a few, just go to your favorite search engine and type in: potpourri or potpourri supplies. You'll be hit with several hundred links.

Below are two wonderful potpourri recipes. But don't stop here! Try experimenting on your own to create your personal potpourri magic!

Recipe for Fireside Romance Potpourri

2 cups of cedar tips
2 cups of mixed pinecones
1 cup of whole cloves
1 cup of cinnamon sticks
1 cup of rose hips
Oil: Bayberry or Vanilla works very well with this mix.

Recipe for Island of Dreams

1 cup of cedar tips
2 cups of roses (buds and/or petals of any color, yellow would be best choice for this mix)
1 cup of dried cranberries
assorted pinecones
¼ cup of whole cloves
2 cups of blue larkspur petals
2 cups of ribboned orange peel
Oil: Orange or Rose

Potpourri can be stored in a jar and opened for a burst of romance, or placed about your home in elegant baskets.

Keep some of the scented oil in supply and when the scents begin to fade in your baskets, sprinkle on the magic!
