"He did," Phillip assured, a grin emerging on his handsome lips. Then, "Embellished a bit, did he?"

"A bit? If he were Pinnochio, his nose would be easing into this room from your kitchen," she assured and her comment pulled a laugh from him.

Feeling a bit guilty about betraying her beloved grandfather, she attempted to reason, "Of course, the house was unbearably cold. We had no way of getting to town and all that stood between the icy cold and a warm house was a big bird's nest anchored in the top of the chimney."

"I'll agree with you. Not a good situation," Phillip eased out, his face thoughtful. Then, "So, will you stay?"

Heather nodded, then said, "Thank you, Doctor Jordon. Your offer is quite generous."
